Brown Project Space ospita l’ultima tappa dei workshop preparatori alla mostra The Land Seen From the Sea - La terra vista dal mare, che dal 4 Febbraio si terrà presso il Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Villa Croce a Genova e che riunirà in un’ampia esposizione gli artisti delle micro aree e dei piccoli Stati d’Europa sulle tematiche della distanza, dell’isolamento e della relazione.
Dopo le tappe a San Marino (Little Constellation Library Archive) Lussemburgo (MUDAM e Casino Luxembourg Forum d’Art Contemporain) Reykjavik (NYLO Living Art Museum e la Galleria Nazionale Islandese), quest’ultimo appuntamento sarà sviluppato in collaborazione con Mark Mangion artista e curatore del progetto Malta Contemporary Art. L’occasione sarà quella di una discussione ed un confronto, a partire dal Progetto When in Rome, sviluppato lo scorso giugno assieme a Simon Starling presso la capitale maltese La Valletta, sulla capacità e la necessità curatoriale messa in campo dagli artisti in contesti d’emergenza culturale, come nel caso di Little Constellation a San Marino; Malta Contemporary Art a Malta; Brown Space Project a Milano: organizzazioni create direttamente da progetti, sviluppati e creati da artisti. In mostra verrà proiettato il video documentario del Progetto When in Rome, contestualmente al workshop. Verranno inoltre esposti, e resi disponibili al pubblico, gli esiti dei workshop e degli incontri già conclusi con la partecipazione di:

Malta Contemporary Art Foundation, www.maltacontemporaryart.com é un’organizzazione culturale senza scopo di lucro, fondata nell’ottobre del 2008 dall’artista maltese Mark Mangion. MCA è il primo spazio di Malta per l’Arte Contemporanea ed è stato istituito per creare una piattaforma di discussione per l’Arte Contemporanea a Malta. Una vetrina per gli artisti visivi emergenti e riconosciuti sul piano internazionale e locale attraverso un programma di mostre personali e collettive curate da curatori e professionisti del settore attraverso una serie di incontri e forum in campi affini.
Brown Project Space è il primo spazio progetti no-profit della scena indipendente milanese. Fondato il 18 febbraio 2008 da Valentina Suma, Luca Francesconi e Luigi Presicce (direttore unico del progetto dal primo Agosto 2010), Brown nasce dallo stimolo di creare un luogo dove gli artisti possano sviluppare progetti slegati dalle dinamiche commerciali delle gallerie, proponendo una strada parallela al sistema vigente e cercando nuove forme di approccio all’arte per un pubblico sempre più variegato.
Malta Contemporary Art e Brown Project Space sono parte del network di Little Constellation. Little Constellation è una rete internazionale per l’arte contemporanea con una particolare attenzione alla ricerca artistica nei piccoli Stati d’Europa, risultato di un processo di studio e lavoro sull’estetica relazionale, ideato e condotto dagli artisti curatori Rita Canarezza & Pier Paolo Coro con l’apporto critico di Roberto Daolio ed Alessandro Castiglioni. Il network www.littleconstellation.org dopo 8 anni di lavoro, di studio e ricerca, incontri, laboratori ed esposizioni (la prima grande esposizione è stata fatta a Fabbrica del Vapore/Careof a Milano il 9 marzo dello scorso anno) è oggi il primo network attivo e vivace tra gli artisti e le istituzioni di: Andorra, Cipro, Islanda, Liechtenstein, Lussemburgo, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, e in alcune micro realtà geoculturali dell’area Europea tra cui: Canton Ticino (CH), Ceuta (E), Gibilterra (UK), Kaliningrad (Rus). Little Constellation
The Land Seen from the Sea
special project with Malta Contemporary Art

Brown Project Space hosts the last stage of the workshops preparatory to the exhibition The Land Seen From The Sea, to be held from 4 February at the Museum of Contemporary Art Villa Croce in Genoa. This wide-ranging exhibition will bring together artists from the geo-cultural micro areas and small states of Europe on issues of distance, isolation and relationship. After visiting San Marino (Little Constellation Library Archive), Luxembourg (MUDAM Luxembourg and Casino Luxembourg Forum d’Art Contemporain), Reykjavik (NYLO Living Art Museum and National Gallery of Iceland), this last event will be developed in collaboration with the artist Mark Mangion and curator of the project Malta Contemporary Art. The occasion will be a discussion and exchange of views, starting from the When in Rome project, developed last June with Simon Starling in Valletta, the capital of Malta, on the curatorial ability and requirements deployed by the artists in emergency cultural contexts, as in the case of Little Constellation in San Marino, Malta Contemporary Art in Malta and Brown Space Project inMilan: organizations created directly by projects, developed and created by artists. As part of the exhibition there will be a screening of the video documentary of the project When in Rome, as part of the workshop. Malta Contemporary Art Foundation, www.maltacontemporaryart.com is a non-profit cultural organization, founded in October 2008 by the Maltese artist Mark Mangion. MCA is the first space for Contemporary Art in Malta and was established to create a discussion platform for Contemporary Art in Malta. A showcase for emerging visual artists, recognized internationally and locally for its program of solo and group exhibitions curated by the editors and industry professionals through a series of encounters and forums in related fields.
Brown Project Space Brown Project Space is the first non-profit project space on the independent scene in Milan. Founded on February 18, 2008, by Valentina Suma, Luca Francesconi and Luigi Presicce (the sole director of the project since August 1, 2010), Brown derives from the stimulus to create a place where artists can develop projects unrelated to the dynamics of the commercial galleries, offering a route parallel to the current system and seeking new forms and approaches to art for an increasingly variegated public.
Malta Contemporary Art and Brown Project Space of Milan are partners in the Little Constellation cultural network.
Little Constellation is an international platform for contemporary art with a focus on artistic research in the small States of Europe, the result of a process of study and work in relational aesthetics, created and conducted by the artist-curators Rita Canarezza & Pier Paolo Coro with the critical contribution of Roberto Daolio and Alessandro Castiglioni. The network www.littleconstellation.org, after eight years of work, study and research, encounters, workshops and exhibitions (the first large exhibitions was done in Fabbrica del Vapore/Careof in Milan March 9th of the last year) is now the first network active and vital among artists and institutions in these countries: Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, and in a few European geocultural micro-areas including Canton Ticino (CH), Ceuta (E), Gibraltar (UK), Kaliningrad (Rus). It is based in the Republic of San Marino at the Library Archives of Little Constellation, Contemporary Art in small States of Europe.
